One of the top areas in Upper Austria – the Salzkammergut. You will find a lot of opportunities for hiking up and down the mountains like Dachstein, Totes Gebirge, or Höllengebirge or biking in the flatter areas. 

The lake area with Traunsee, Attersee, Mondsee, Wolfgangsee and last, but not least – the Hallstätter See are definitely highlights and the ideal basis for your summer activities.

Carinthia – well known for its many lakes. The most well know lake for sure the Wörther See with its hot spots Pörtschach und Velden, where you will find both - relaxation during the day, and great parties by night.

The way of life in Carinthia is different than in other parts of Austria, cooking and fashion in Carinthia has a lot of Italian flairs.

The Mölltaler Gletscher – Austria´s most southern glacier – counts as one of the skiing areas in Austria, which always have snow in the season. Of course, there are many other popular ski areas in Carinthia – just to mention a few like Katschberg, Nassfeld, Turracher Höhe, or of Heiligenblut at the Carinthian side of the highest mountain in Austria, the Großglockner.

Medieval castles like Burg Hochosterwitz, Ruine Landskron or Burg Someregg and much more invite for exciting Sunday afternoon weekend visits. There is a lot you can do in your spare time in Carinthia.

In the heart of Austria, there is the Ausseer Land, famous for its unique landscape and scenic lakes like Grundlsee and Alt Aussee. The charming city of Bad Aussee is the geographic center of Austria and ideal starting point for excursions into the mountains, surrounding lakes, or other highlights like various salt mines. 

The south-eastern and south-western parts of Styria are well known for its beautiful and smooth landscape. The hills with its wineyards are well known as the “Styrian Tuscany.”

Definitely one of the highlights in Austria. Holiday apartments in Tyrol are very popular and well in demand. Tyrol offers a wide variety of landmarks and a lot to do outdoors.

One of the most well-known places in Tyrol is Kitzbühel. Holiday apartments in Kitzbühel are high in demand, as there are not many places like Kitzbühel, where you can combine skiing activities with jet set-nightlife in a scenic old town in one place.

Tyrol consists of high mountains, magnificent landscapes, and natural wonders. The Stuibenfall waterfall in the Ötztal Valley has the highest vertical drop - up to 2,000 liters of water flows down each minute.

The climate in Burgenland is very special and differs significantly from the rest of Austria.

Heavily influenced from the Hungarian Pannonian Plain, you can enjoy dry and warm summers. The Burgenland is also famous for its excellent winemakers and of course the Neusiedler See, which is a shallow steppe lake, just 1-2 m deep, but quite large in size.

From Vienna, the Neusiedler See is just half an hour driving by car. So, many Viennese are looking for a holiday apartment or apartment house at the Neusiedler See. And if you cannot afford a weekend home at the Neusiedler See, you try to spend at least as many Saturdays or Sundays swimming at or biking around the Neusiedler See, or exploring the National Park Neusiedler See around Illmitz, Apetlon, and Lange Lacke.

The landscape of Upper Bavaria is unique and really remarkable in terms of scenic highlights.

Within a one-hour driving range around Munich, you will find more than 100 different lakes – one nicer than the other. From the biggest ones like Starnberger See, Chiemsee and Ammersee to the smaller ones like Staffelsee, Kochelsee, or Walchensee. 

The region around the Tegernsee is also well known for the “Tegernseer Waldfeste” during the summer months: similar to the “Münchner Wiesn” Oktoberfest, but much smaller and more authentic - for local people. 

Local associations and volunteer fire departments are organizing a weekend long festivity with a lot of beer, grilled chicken, and traditional Bavarian music to earn some further financing.

The Schwarzwald region is one of the largest low mountain ranges in Germany and rich in variety: from the lovely hills in the Northern parts of the Schwarzwald to the mountainous areas of the Southern Schwarzwald, you will find everything.

If you like water sports, then you should concentrate your activities around the Titisee and Schluchsee, where you can do sailing, windsurfing or scuba diving.

If you are very sporty and adventurous, then Paragliding is for you. Because of the hilly topography and its up winds, paragliders love the Schwarzwald.

But you don´t need to be an aviator to get into higher areas: a tour up to the highest mountain of the Schwarzwald – the Feldberg – will give you some gorgeous scenic views around the area.
Schwarzwald also offers a lot of cultures, like Castle Hohenzollern, or the Benedictine Monastery St. Blasien. 

You won´t get bored in the Schwarzwald.

In Graubünden, the official languages are German, Italian, and Rhaeto-Romanic, the whole canton is situated in the Alps and therefore rich of impressive alpine views and attractions. Well known ski resorts you will find in Aros, Davos, Flims, or Oberengadin.

Having a holiday apartment in Graubünden situates you into a combination of wild, archaic nature, combined with state of the art infrastructure for ski tourism. Graubünden is, where skiing was invented in 1864!

Graubünden is also owning three of the UNESCO world heritages: the monastery of St. Johann in Müstair, the Bernina Express railway from Poschavia to Chur, and the Sardona mountains close to Flims.

Although the eastern part of Switzerland offers a wide variety of nature and activities, many people don´t associate this part of the country with the “typical Switzerland.” Well known locations are Appenzell, Rapperswill, and Sankt Gallen.

The Lake Constance (Bodensee) at the border to Germany and Austria is the second largest lake in Central Europe and therefore one of the biggest regions for summer holidays and definitely a place for looking for holiday homes.

Although it is not located directly at the Lake Constance, don´t miss to visit the Principality of Liechtenstein (Fürstentum Lichtenstein), which is just some kilometers south of the Lake Constance, and the six smallest country of the world.

As the name says, mountains in the Low Tatras are a little bit lower than in the High Tatras. Nevertheless, the highest mountains Djumbier (Ďumbier) with 2.043m, Chopok with 2.024m, and Kráľova hoľa with 1.948m offer breathtaking views at the surrounding landscape.

A very popular place and worth to visit, are the ice caves of Demänovská, which are permanently filled with ice, of bizarre shapes and nevertheless rare faunas.

If you love hiking, then you will find a good starting point in the Western part of the Low Tatras in Donovaly, which is the most important tourist centre in Low Tatras and also very popular for skiing in winter.

The High Tatras are one of the most beautiful areas of Slovakia, and rich in natural attractions. Mountains reach up to 2.655m – with Gerlachovský štít the highest mountains there. Parts of the High Tatras are a national park, and a UNESCO biosphere reserve.

Thousands of tourists are visiting the High Tatras every year for skiing, hiking. The High Tatras have some of the best ski resorts in Slovakia. For example, Tatranská Lomnica, or Park Snow Štrbské Pleso, Ždiar, or the resort in Roháče, Zverovka.

For all others, who just want to relax and enjoy the views of nature, you can go up the mountains with the rack railway (Zubačka), take a walk around the Štrbské Lake (Štrbské Pleso), or you go up with the cableway to the Lomnitz Peak (Lomnický štít).

It is not only the beer – just to mention the famous Budweiser or Samson beer, both from Budvar – for which South Bohemia is famous. South Bohemia is also rich in history and culture, and therefore the most visited tourism region in the Czech Republic.

Definitely, a visit worth is the medieval town of Česky Krumlov – a UNESCO word heritage – which is centered around an old castle from the 13th century.

And by the way, if you plan to visit the breweries in Budvar, you can perfectly combine this with a visit to the romantic castle of Hluboká – a magnificent building from the 13th century, formerly owned and reconstructed into a neo-gothic style in the 19th century by the Schwarzenberg family, and now one of the top sightseeing attractions of the Check Republic.

In South Tyrol, one speaks three languages – Italian, German, and Ladin. 

Although South Tyrol is in the Alps, the climate is a little bit milder and less precipitation than you would expect for this region. The region offers an interesting combination of alpine climates with Mediterranean influences and a lot of sunshine. 

South Tyrol is a place of more than 800 fortresses and castles. A lot of them can be found in the region of Bolzano – for example, Castle Sigmundskron, which is hosting the Messner Mountain Museum Firmian of the South Tyrolian extreme mountaineer Reinhold Messner – the first man at the Mount Everest together with Peter Habeler without using oxygen bottles (1978).

In Bolzano, you will also find the “Ötzi Museum.” Ötzi is a 5.300 years old glacier mummy, which was found accidentally in the Ötztal Alps in 1991.

The Veneto reaches from the Dolomite Alps down to the Adriatic Sea. You have to see the Alpenglow over the jagged rocks of the Dolomites at a nice, clear evening if you prefer the more mountainous, alpine terrain for your weekend getaways.

The majority of visitors head to the classic seaside resorts of the Northern Adriatic Sea – just to mention Grado and Caorle with its beautiful old towns, but also Jesolo, Cavallino, or Bibione. 
And – what would Italy be without Venice! But you better don´t visit Venice during the summer months; it is totally overcrowded with tourist during the high season.

For someone, looking for long term rental apartments it is also recommended to look at the region of the Euganean Hills (Colli Euganei) – hills of volcanic origin, which are just some kilometers south-west of Padua.

The Euganean Hills are well known for the thermal baths of Teolo, Montegrotto, or Abano. These are also good starting points for nice weekend trips to the national park of the Euganean Hills (Parco Regionale Dei Colli Euganei).

The upper Italian lakes consist of the Lake Garda, Como, Maggiore, Orta, and Iseo, and are mainly located in the Lombardy, the wealthiest region of Italy. Only the Lake Garda is partly in the Lombardy, partly in the Veneto.

The Lake Garda is the largest of the upper Italian lakes and also the best known and most visited lake. A top place to visit in the Lake Garda lake area is the botanic garden of André Heller (Heller Garden) – created in 1910 by Arturo Hruska, and redesigned by André Heller in the 1990s.

Lake Como with its picturesque little towns and mansions at steep banks, mixed with tropical gardens and palm trees probably offers the most spectacular scenery of all lakes in the Lombardy region.

Lake Maggiore is situated mainly in Italy, but about 20% of the lake belongs to Switzerland. It is the second largest lake in the region, after Lake Garda. One of the highlights and must-see Fortress Visconteo (Castello Visconteo) in the center of old town Locarno, which hosts an archaeological museum today.

Lake Orta is the smallest of the Upper Italian Lakes, and less crowded, but for sure at least of the same appeal like the other lakes in the region. In Orta San Giulio, you will find the UNESCO world heritage, Sacri Monti.

At the lake Iseo, well-known artist Christo installed the “Floating Piers” in the summer of 2016: a floating bridge, where one could walk on water from the shore to the island of Monte Isola.

Slovenia is the only country in the world, whose name includes the word “love” – Slovenia! And you can feel it in every part of this small, but beautiful country. Slovenians are proud of their country, have good food, and are open minded people in general.

Just visit Lake Bled on a nice summer day, and you will know, what we mean: Lake Bled is a picturesquely small lake, situated in the Slovenian Alps, with a little island and church in the middle of the lake, surrounded by high mountains. Bled is not only known as a climatic spa, but also very well known for the delicious cream cakes. It is said that they were invented in Bled.

Not far away from Bled, you will find Lake Bohinj, where you can walk around in 3 hours. Bohinj is part of the Triglav national park and offers perfect conditions for touring ski excursions during the winter.

Slovenia also possesses a small coastline at the Adriatic Sea. It is just 47 kilometers long, but if you look for some Mediterranean flair, then you should visit the small town of Piran with its Venetian style architecture, and by a car just 40 minutes south of Trieste, Italy.

The Croatian peninsula Istria has too much to offer to describe in just some words. Istria in the summer time is very popular for mostly Austrian and German tourists – the hottest tourist spots you will find around Novigrad, Porec, Pula, and Rovinj – also called the little Venice because of its architecture and romantic setting.

The Brijuni national park - close to Pula and Fazana - consists of 14 islands and was used as summer residence by the former President and Party Secretary of Yugoslavia, Tito. Today, you can visit some of the islands, on the largest of the 14 islands - Veli Brijun – you will also find hotels.

Lovers of seafood will be in heaven at the Limski Channel, close to Rovinj and well known for fresh oysters and mussels from the local shellfish farm.

If you prefer the autumn time, then you should go for the “city of truffles” – Motovun. Where you not only find delicious food dishes like Ravioli, stuffed with spinach or truffles, or Fuzi with truffles, and of course some good Croatian red wine. But also, excellent opportunities for relaxation or activity holiday like hiking or biking.

Croatia´s most visited holiday destination is the Kvarner Bay with its islands – just to mention the largest ones - Losinj, Cres, Krk, and Rab. If you decide for a holiday apartment on one of the islands, you also have to take into consideration the time schedules of the local speeds, and ferryboats, which can vary in frequency, depending on the season.

In Croatia, you will find mostly pebble or rocky beaches, in Crikvenica or on the island Rab, you will also find sand beaches. Most islands rather have some sparse vegetation, as summers can get very hot and dry island Losinj has on average 2.580 hours of sunshine per year, which is comparable to North Africa.

Definitely to be mentioned – the Plitvice Lakes: the oldest national park of Croatia & UNESCO world heritage, consisting of 16 lakes, connected through a system of waterfalls and water caves, and Croatia´s tourist destination number one.
